Westford Select Board Clerk John Cunningham to Resign, Seat Goes to May Election

WESTFORD — February 15, 2026 — Westford Select Board clerk John Cunningham will resign May 4, one day before the town's annual election, leaving his seat to be filled by voters at the polls. The board voted 5-0 at its February 10 meeting to accept the resignation and authorize a ballot vacancy election on May 5. Colleagues praised Cunningham's service to both country and town. Separately, State Representative Jim Arciero filed House Bill 2064, which would require employers to provide 10 days of paid bereavement leave after the death of a child; the bill, co-developed with Chelmsford nonprofit founder Dr. Kristen Dillon of Junie's Place, is now before the House Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. Fire Chief Mike Dennehy also graduated last week alongside 42 other Massachusetts fire chiefs from the state's Chief Fire Officer Management Training Program.
