Wayland School Committee votes 5-0 to enter closed session on teacher, custodian contracts

School Committee · Meeting of August 3, 2026

Wayland School Committee votes 5-0 to enter executive session on teacher and custodian contracts. At a two-minute open session held via Zoom on August 3, Chair Kate Zambucco moved to enter closed session under M.G.L. c.30A, §21(a)(3) to discuss collective bargaining strategy with the Wayland Educational Association Unit A and the Wayland Custodians, announcing the committee would "not reconvene in open session." Betsy Cullen seconded. Members Jessica Trout, Prashant Shukla and Aaron Gibbons joined Zambucco and Cullen in voting yes on the roll call.

David Fleischman and Kirsteen Patterson joined the committee for the closed portion. A revised agenda filed July 29 had added the custodians unit to a session originally noticed for teachers only.
