Wayland CPC votes to let $400,000 playground money follow Children's Way preschool
WAYLAND -- April 16, 2026, Wayland CPC broadens $400,000 playground appropriation and eyes 17 Glezen Lane for conservation. The Community Preservation Committee voted 7-0 Wednesday to amend a 2025 Annual Town Meeting article so that $400,000 originally earmarked for the Town Building playground can instead fund construction or rehabilitation at Happy Hollow School or another Wayland public school site, following the Children's Way preschool's move for the 2026-27 year. Recreation's Catherine Brennan said a consultant believes a fully accessible two- to five-year-old playground can be built within budget by September. Chair Susan Weinstein and member Doug Stotts then won 7-0 approval to spend up to $10,000 appraising 17 Glezen Lane, a 6.03-acre parcel listed at $1.4 million abutting town-owned land at 25 Holiday Road. A motion authorizing the chair or vice chair to contact the listing broker passed 6-0, with Leslie Stewart abstaining.
