Select Board · Meeting of October 19, 2026
Wayland's Select Board voted 4-0 to back state legislation creating a five-town remote participation pilot for open town meeting. Town Moderator Miranda Jones and Electronic Voting Implementation Subcommittee Chair Dave Bernstein said the town's home rule petition was sent to study and that they met Oct. 9 with the Attorney General's Municipal Law Division about overseeing a pilot; Jones said she would "rather have the Attorney General's office fighting for us than us doing it alone." In a joint session, Board of Public Works Chair Mike Winterbauer said the transfer station subsidy has been cut from $75,000 to $50,000 while roughly $81,000 in OPEB costs were added, and asked for a $61,500 departmental charge. Chair Carol B.
Martin put the figure closer to $75,000 and referred it to Town Manager Michael McCall and Finance Director Brian Keveny. The board also moved $83,714 in unused ARPA funds to an MWRA engineering project.
