Select Board · Meeting of October 14, 2026

Pepperell Select Board recommended 12 of 13 articles for the November 7 special town meeting, splitting 2-1 on a right-to-farm bylaw expansion. Member Charles Walkovich voted against it, warning "there's no guardrails" to monitor farms after Agricultural Commission members themselves breached manure-storage rules. The board also backed a $1.6 million fire pumper financed without a tax override and a $350,000 capital appropriation, pending free-cash certification expected above $1.1 million.

Town Administrator Andrew MacLean said a net $357,000 budget reduction, including $332,000 saved on a lower Middlesex County Retirement Assessment, closes a deficit from May's town meeting with an $8,700 surplus. The board also took no position on a citizen petition restricting Flock-style surveillance cameras, and approved supporting a Colonel Prescott statue for the Town Green contingent on its eventual construction.
