WATERTOWN — The Watertown Council on Aging reelected Helen as chair and heard a detailed staff report on spring programming and grants. Staff member Lydia told the board a pending MassDOT shuttle grant, combined with an approved city budget request, could mean the center runs two senior shuttles within a year. She said the Marshall Home Fund awarded the council a $5,000 transportation grant for fiscal year 2027 and contributed $10,000 to the GoGo Grandparent program, which has provided "over 1,300 free rides" to Watertown seniors.
The council's volunteer program has grown to 66 volunteers as of April. Lydia also outlined new partnerships with Eat Well Watertown, Therapy Gardens, and Residences at Watertown Square, plus a June workshop with Watertown police and middle schoolers on AI scams.
