Tyngsborough School Committee elects McMahon chair, names new assistant superintendent

Tyngsborough School Committee reorganizes for 2026-2027, names new chair and assistant superintendent. At the committee's annual reorganization meeting Tuesday, Ryan McMahon was elected chair and Rebecca Stanton vice chair, both by 6-0 votes, with Burke Bushman appointed recording secretary. The committee also unanimously approved the appointment of Sarah Lewenzik, a 24-year district veteran and 13-year director of student services, as assistant superintendent for FY27, on the recommendation of Superintendent-elect Mike Woodlock, who called it "by far the most important recommendation I can make." Flanagan received an exemplary performance rating for 2025-2026, covering goals in district improvement strategy, organizational leadership, and the middle school building project. The meeting also absorbed the news of Rob Mullen's immediate resignation after 11 years on the committee; the town clerk will manage the replacement process, with next steps expected at the June 23 meeting.
