Tyngsborough taps reserves for a $358,364 emergency capital list ahead of October town meeting. The Capital Asset Management Committee voted 3-0 to recommend the abbreviated fiscal 2027 plan, funded entirely from the town's $960,312.48 Capital Stabilization Fund rather than new borrowing. Town Manager Colin Wiesel cited recent cyberattacks at Springfield Public Schools and Everett City Hall in pushing a $17,364 hybrid backup system, alongside $30,000 for expanded Town Hall security cameras, $39,000 for specialty exterior doors and $25,000 for a refrigerant monitoring system at Tyngsborough Elementary School.
"This is why I didn't think it was worth waiting," Wiesel said. A stalled Department of Public Works generator remains tied up in a vendor's bankruptcy, and a roof feasibility study aims to position the school for the state's accelerated repair reimbursement program.
