Townsend Prepares for Trio of Fall Elections
TOWNSEND — Townsend officials are keeping residents focused on a busy stretch ahead, with three fall elections on the calendar and reminders about town services continuing this week.

The town's News Flash feed continues to highlight the unusual run of three elections this fall — a Special Election on September 1, followed by additional elections October 6 and November 3. Nomination papers remain available for residents interested in running, a process town officials opened earlier this month.
Town Hall's reduced Friday hours remain in effect through the end of August, part of a summer schedule change department heads have been reminding residents about in recent posts. Residents are also being reminded that the next real estate tax due date falls on August 3, though this has been a recurring notice rather than new news this week.
Separately, the town's water department completed its aggregation sweep process, following a scheduled sweep announced for mid-July, and earlier flushing of water mains across town in late June — routine seasonal maintenance work handled by the Highway and Water departments.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Townsend Public Library continues to promote its Summer Reading program and the ongoing Townsend Hill Writers Symposium series, both anchor offerings for the library this season. The library is also encouraging residents to download the CWMARS app, which allows patrons to search the catalog, place holds, and access a virtual library card from their phones.
The town's band concert series, which began June 11, continues to give residents a recurring summer community gathering point, part of the town's broader push this season to keep cultural programming visible alongside municipal announcements.
