Town Flags Cyclosporiasis Rise as Road Work Resumes Next Week
Town officials issued a health advisory on cyclosporiasis awareness and detailed a new week of road construction, while the library's summer exhibitions and a hometown mountaineering feat drew attention across town.

The Town of Concord's roadway contractor will continue work the week of Monday, July 20 through Thursday, July 24, according to the town's News Flash service. Separately, town officials issued a health advisory flagging a national rise in cyclosporiasis cases, a gastrointestinal illness caused by the microscopic parasite Cyclospora; officials noted the Massachusetts case count remains typical for this time of year but urged residents to stay aware of the multi-state uptick tracked by the CDC.
Motorists should also expect the previously announced closure of Spencer Brook Road, which is scheduled to begin July 20, and continued restrictions under the town's hot-weather lawn watering rules, which remain in effect.

The Concord Free Public Library's Munroe Gallery at the Main Library continues to host "Summer Memories," a solo exhibition by Massachusetts artist Lucinda Hamilton featuring landscapes and scenes tied to cherished memories, on view through July 30. The library is also hosting "A Celebration of the Declaration: An Exhibition of Rare 1776 Documents," on view through July 26, with a related event listed on the town calendar for Saturday, July 18.
The library is additionally accepting applications for its 2027 Writer-in-Residence Program, with a residency period running January through June 2027; the application deadline was July 15.
A Concord native, Ty Andrews, was reported to have set a new record for the fastest ascent of Mount Everest without supplemental means, according to a Wicked Local report circulated via a Google Alert listserv distribution.
