Bedford Plans Summer Biergarten as Fire Station Forum Nears

BEDFORD — The Select Board and Town Manager's Office are inviting residents to the Town Common for the Bedford Summer Biergarten, an afternoon gathering with music, beer, and food, as the town also pushes ahead on plans for the former fire station site and a rail trail detour tied to construction in Billerica.

The Select Board and Town Manager's Office announced the Bedford Summer Biergarten, a community afternoon event on the Town Common featuring music, food, and beer, according to the town's News Flash announcement.

Town officials also flagged an upcoming virtual public forum on the future use of 55 The Great Road, the former fire station site, to be hosted jointly by the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and town staff. Separately, the town confirmed the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail is temporarily closed at the Billerica town line as Billerica undertakes a two-year project to build its Yankee Doodle Bike Path starting from the Bedford town line.

The Bedford Public Library's 2026 HEB Reads! Summer Reading Challenge remains open to adults, teens, and kids through July 31, with participants logging reading minutes through the Beanstack app or the library's website to earn prizes; prize pick-up began June 1, according to the library.

COMING UP

The Taxation Aid Committee meets Monday, July 20. The Hanscom Field Advisory Commission meets Tuesday, July 21. A virtual public forum on the future use of 55 The Great Road, the former fire station property, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, alongside a Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting the same day.
