Somerville Youth Soccer plans sixth annual SYS Days at Senior Night

SOMERVILLE --

HIGH SCHOOL -- Somerville Youth Soccer's website says the club's sixth annual "SYS Days" will take place at Somerville High School soccer games, tied to Senior Night contests against Revere and Malden Catholic. The announcement, posted Oct. 12, did not include scores or additional game details. ArbiterLive listed no Somerville High School game results during this period.

YOUTH LEAGUES -- Somerville Youth Soccer's site now lists Fall 2026 registration as closed, with Spring 2027 registration set to open in late October. The club's "Kick Cancer" fundraising partnership with Bow Market, announced Oct. 1, remains active through the month, with travel teams wearing pink warm-up shirts and proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Somerville Youth Hockey Association's site continued to display no new posted news for the period.

COMMUNITY -- At the Oct. 8 City Council meeting, Councilor Cregan asked colleagues to observe a moment of silence for Keith Michael Mannix, a Somerville native who died suddenly at 49 shortly after relocating to Colorado. Cregan said Mannix "graduated Somerville High School, played hockey for the Highlanders," and described him as "a proud Somerville native, a passionate Boston sports fan." The council also recognized Hispanic Heritage Month with citations for three Padres Latinos community volunteers, Nancy Paz, Alejandra Banuelos and Maritza Perdomo, though their remarks centered on community and family programming rather than athletics.
