Sherborn Health Officials Renew Mosquito Safety Advisory

SHERBORN — Sherborn's Board of Health this week reissued guidance on protecting against mosquito-borne illness, the most notable Town Hall item to surface in the past day as the summer wears on.

The town's News Flash service posted an advisory Tuesday reminding residents that mosquitoes can carry viruses capable of causing illness ranging from a mild fever to more serious conditions such as encephalitis or meningitis. The notice stresses that severe cases remain rare, but that avoiding mosquito bites, through repellent, protective clothing, and eliminating standing water where mosquitoes breed, is the most reliable prevention. The advisory did not accompany any new funding request or regulatory action; it is a public-health reminder rather than a policy change.
