Tyngsborough Sewer Commission approves two new hookups, withdraws $4 million grant after town meeting balks at match. The commission unanimously approved sewer connections for a vacant lot at 6 Pro Circle and for a failing-septic property at 24 Warden Avenue, the latter contingent on the owner tying in within 60 days. Commissioners also waived $2.62 in interest and a $15 demand fee for a Dickens Lane homeowner and voted to withdraw a $4 million grant application after town meeting rejected the required 20 percent local match.

The bulk of the meeting centered on 130 Middlesex Road, where Sewer Administrator Kathy Cayer said the plaza has exceeded its 2,640-gallon daily allotment by roughly 650 gallons since the Ty Elephant restaurant opened. Owner Michael Charles said he fixed two leaking toilets and asked for more time before losing ERUs reserved for a court-ordered apartment conversion. "We don't have the flow, that's the issue," Cayer told him.

The matter returns June 11.
