Sewer Commission · Meeting of July 22, 2026
GROTON — The Groton Sewer Commission agreed to postpone a sewer connection fee decision for the restaurant reopening at 20 Station Avenue, deferring the question for about a year. Chair Jim Gminer and restaurateur Will Gilson, who also runs the Herb Lyceum, discussed an estimated $24,000 fee tied to seating that could reach 280, above the building's 250-seat sewer allowance. Gilson said "the lion's share" of water use will come from dishwashing, with most cooking done off-site on a kitchen trailer.
DPW Director Paul Bergman reported manhole rehabilitation work addressing hydrogen sulfide corrosion and said the treatment plant runs at roughly 50 percent of design capacity with 98 to 99 percent pollutant removal. The commission also approved postcard mailing funds for grinder-pump customers and unanimously approved its July 8 minutes.
