TOWNSEND — The Select Board outlined a five-article special town meeting warrant that includes a bid to make the town clerk appointed. The tentative Nov. 10 meeting would take up two citizen petitions on clerk salary and a board article seeking special legislation. The board plans to open and close the warrant at a virtual meeting Oct. 26, pending town counsel review.
Chair Valerie Goodrich, Vice Chair Laura Shifrin and Clerk Sarah Logan voted 3-0 to extend the Chapter 90 road-funding agreement 10 years, as Town Administrator Kieran Meehan presented it. The board also approved 2027 license renewals, heard free cash certified near $684,000, and took no action on a State Ethics Commission liaison.
