Wayland Planning Board delays vote on Happy Hollow water plant after Castle Road neighbors object. The board voted unanimously September 9 to continue the public hearing on the town's proposed 1.35-million-gallon-per-day water treatment facility and Castle Road pump station to October 7, with the decision deadline extended to November 6. Three abutter households opposed the pump station siting at a blind corner on Old Connecticut Path, citing a June crash, four recent ambulance calls to 374 Old Connecticut Path, and school buses that will not stop at the intersection.
Chair Anette Lewis called the proposed eight-foot chain-link fence with privacy slats "uglier than the building" and demanded exterior native-plant screening. Kleinfelder's Matthew O'Dowd said the applicant would revise plans; DPW Director Tom Holder said the MWRA easement made relocation impractical. The board also continued the NP Wayland LLC Town Center hearing to September 23 for revised signage language capping tenant panels at up to 16 per side.
