Planning Board backs West Concord panel's new charge
Planning Board · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Concord Planning Board votes 6-0 to back a broader charge for the West Concord Advisory Committee. Co-chairs Anna Feldwig and Lindsay Wolff told the board the panel, now seven members strong, has outgrown its role assisting Planning Board projects given a wave of development including MCI Concord, the Route 2 Rotary redesign, and new housing at Thoreau and Novo. The revised charge would shift the committee toward the Select Board and expand its geography to all of West Concord, with a seat threshold kept at five of seven members needing a "connection" to the area.
Member Sue Felschen separately walked the board through a lengthy zoning bylaw cleanup headed for a 2027 warrant article, saying "you still need to have a zoning bylaw amendment because punctuation matters." The board also heard that a New England Deaconess proposal to demolish Chamberlain House and build a four-story independent living facility is headed to an October 20 site plan review, and that Select Board members are holding firm on an 800-unit cap for MCI Concord housing.
