Pepperell DPW board approves minutes, presses solar site on runoff

Pepperell DPW presses a solar developer on stormwater failures near town wells, weighs a $2 million fix for Dirt Jewett Street. Director Paul Brinkman told the Board of Public Works that runoff from the Bemis Solar Project breached its drainage system during August storms, sending mud toward the Bemis well field, which supplies roughly half the town's water; the board set a November 15 stabilization deadline and floated calling in the state DEP. Separately, Brinkman estimated a Dirt Jewett Street boundary survey at $50,000 and full reconstruction at roughly $2 million, saying residents remain split on granting easements.
The board also credited staffer Staci Padovano with cutting delinquent accounts over $2,000 from 115 to 20 in a year, and voted 5-0 to accept June and July meeting minutes.
