Natick West Nile Virus Risk Level Rises to Moderate
Natick's West Nile Virus risk level climbed to Moderate this week, town officials announced, the most notable development out of Town Hall as the region moves through the tail end of peak mosquito season.
TOWN HALL
The town issued a News Flash alert Aug. 13 raising Natick's West Nile Virus (WNV) risk designation to Moderate. Officials urged residents to take standard mosquito-bite precautions: using EPA-registered insect repellent, wearing long sleeves and pants during dawn and dusk hours when mosquitoes are most active, and eliminating standing water around homes where mosquitoes breed. WNV is spread through mosquito bites and can, in rare cases, cause serious neurological illness, though most infected people experience mild or no symptoms.
