More than half of Wilmington High School students are playing a fall sport as teams shift from scrimmages into regular-season play.

WILMINGTON -- Wilmington High School's fall athletic season moved into full competition this week, according to a report delivered at the Sept. 9 School Committee meeting.

HIGH SCHOOL -- Superintendent Poska told the School Committee that "fall sports begins in earnest this week as we switch from scrimmage mode to game mode," adding that "data shows that 51% of our students at the high school are playing a fall sport." He wished "all of our student-athletes best of luck as they start their fall seasons."

Committee member Turner highlighted the participation figure during discussion, saying the turnout is "really amazing" given the school's size: "It's not a large high school, but a lot of kids do participate, which is a really good sign for the program."
