Medford panel reviews composting gains, sets fall event calendar
City Meetings · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Medford advisory committee reports 51 percent composting enrollment, preps fall outreach blitz. Climate planner Sam Riley led the session, joined by committee liaison Stacey Moore and Planning Office staffer Will, who called the participation rate "more than most cities, period." The city's every-other-week trash pickup takes effect July 1, with weekly compost collection unchanged. Members flagged an unresolved bathroom-access problem for the volunteer-run October 17 "Junk in the Trunk" swap event, run without a city budget, and referred a resident's swollen gasoline-container safety concern to the Department of Public Works.
Staffer Hala announced her resignation from the office's food security and community garden role. Both procedural votes, on the June minutes and adjournment, passed unanimously.
