Medford details $1.6 million in CDBG spending
Community Development · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Medford's annual federal grant report shows $1.56 million spent on housing, sidewalks and services. Alicia Hunt, the city's director of Planning, Development and Sustainability, presented the Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report at a September 23 public hearing, noting the city is currently hiring a dedicated CDBG manager. Of the $1,559,000 available, $216,000 went to public services and $210,000 to administration, with roughly $500,000 in street project payments rolling into the current year.
Accomplishments included new sidewalks on Arlington Street, ADA intersection upgrades, a relaunched housing rehabilitation loan program, and a continued vacant storefront grants program. "The money rolls over," Hunt said, explaining the gap between available and spent funds. The city is now developing a Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area and takes written comments on the report through September 27.
