Marlborough sends 90-unit Ames Village condo plan to Urban Affairs Committee

MARLBOROUGH — March 9, 2026 — Marlborough sends 90-unit Ames Village condominium proposal to Urban Affairs after public hearing. Attorney Brian Falk, representing the Marlborough/Northborough Land Trust, told the City Council the age-targeted ownership project on 11 acres at Ames and Forest streets would preserve nearly six acres of open space, price units between $500,000 and $600,000, and generate over half a million dollars in net annual revenue. Residents including Dana McPhee and Valerie Zamoulis raised concerns about runoff, lighting and wildlife. Ward 3 Councilor Robert Preciado noted the city has added 598 housing units since 2019 but only 27 students. The council also voted 10-0 to refer a $565,811 PEG-fund transfer to WMCT-TV to Finance, approved 9-1 a resolution backing House Bill H.91 and Senate Bill S.2556 to "modernize funding for community media programming," and confirmed Jeffrey F. Gogan Jr. as fire chief for a five-year term.
