Living Historian Brings Rachel Revere To Life At Vokes Theatre
Sunday, August 30, 2 p.m. — Wayland's Historic Center hosted a free performance of "Rendezvous with Rachel Revere" at Beatrice Herford's Vokes Theatre. Educator and historian Judith Kalaora of History At Play portrayed Rachel Revere, wife of Paul Revere, who was left behind in British-occupied Boston to protect her family, home and business. The program, sponsored by the Wayland Historical Commission, Wayland Rev250 and Vokes Theatre, closed with an in-character audience Q&A with Kalaora, according to the Wayland Museum & Historical Society.
Tuesday, September 1 — Arts Wayland and the MetroWest Writers' Guild set a submission deadline for "The Massachusetts Gothic," a call for Massachusetts authors to write new fiction and poetry reimagining the state's myths and legends. Writers who submit by the deadline will be notified by mid-September, ahead of a public reading later in the month.
