Littleton Planning Board continues ADU bylaw and Shaker Lane School hearings to October 8. Members Jeffrey Yates, Margot Bloomstein, Daryl Kent Baker, Mark Montanari and Bartlett Harvey spent nearly two hours debating a zoning amendment raising accessory-structure setbacks from 10 to 15 feet and updating Article 13 to comply with the state's August 2024 Affordable Homes Act, ultimately holding the accessory dwelling unit size cap at 900 square feet over a resident's push for 1,000. Town Counsel Chris Heap warned that "the state regulations say that we, the town, must apply to an ADU" whichever setback is most permissive.
The board then opened its first hearing on the 97,232-square-foot Shaker Lane School redevelopment, where abutter Kathleen Leonard said she'll be "literally... surrounded by construction" and criticized the Shaker Lane Building Committee's response to her questions. Both hearings continue October 8, alongside third-party peer review of the school's stormwater design by Green International.
