Littleton Board of Health Unanimously Appoints Carlisle Director as New Health Chief

LITTLETON — June 24, 2026 — Littleton Board of Health votes 4-0 to appoint a new Health Director, effective pending Select Board sign-off. Acting Chair Dan Cain led the unanimous vote Wednesday to hire Kelli Calo, currently Health Director in the town of Carlisle, at Grade 16, Step 7, with a target start date of July 13, 2026, contingent on Select Board approval required for hires above Step 3. Twelve candidates applied during a two-week open posting managed by the town's HR director; Calo was selected as the most qualified. Calo, who grew up in Littleton, introduced herself by phone and said she is "looking forward to making some really good changes." The board also spent more than an hour on its two-year-old draft private well regulation, clashing sharply over a provision that would bar new drinking wells where municipal water is available — member Matt Wasson called it "dangerously close to overstepping" — and tabled the question pending absent Chair Kevin Baker's return and a comparison against an updated 2024 MassDEP model regulation.
