Library Hosts Boston Area Gleaners Talk, Previews Summer Slate

BILLERICA — The Billerica Public Library welcomed Boston Area Gleaners for a talk Thursday evening and is rolling out a run of summer programming, including a mobile career center that returns to the library parking lot next week and a Family Friends ice cream social later this month.

The library hosted a 7 p.m. presentation Thursday from Boston Area Gleaners, a nonprofit that recovers surplus produce from Massachusetts farms for food-insecure residents, as part of its ongoing adult program calendar. The library's summer reading challenge, open to all ages, has been running since June 22.

Family Friends of the Billerica Public Library, the library's volunteer support group, will hold an ice cream social on Tuesday, July 28, at 6 p.m. The group is also selling $10 branded bags at the circulation desk while supplies last, with proceeds supporting library programs and museum-pass offerings.

The Masshire Lowell Mobile Career Center returns to the library's parking lot Monday, July 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., offering job-search assistance to residents.
