Lexington Renews Warning on Fraudulent Permit-Related Emails
Town officials on Tuesday renewed warnings about fraudulent emails impersonating Lexington government offices, targeting residents with active permit applications before town boards, while a new fee schedule for special waste collection moves closer to its September start date.

The town's News Flash service on Tuesday afternoon again alerted residents that fraudulent emails continue to reach applicants with permits pending before boards and committees, including the Planning Board, Historic District Commission, and Conservation Commission. The town has not detailed how the scam operates beyond noting it targets people with business currently before those bodies; residents with pending permits are urged to verify any town correspondence directly with the relevant office.
Separately, the town reiterated that starting September 1, residents will bear the cost of disposing certain special waste items not accepted as regular trash, under state Department of Environmental Protection disposal bans — a policy first announced last week that remains in the pipeline toward implementation.
SCHOOLS
School Committee's Policy Subcommittee has a remote meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 30, after being revised to a 3:15 p.m. start time, according to the town calendar.
