Housing Partnership to send letter on 212 Cochituate Road development

WAYLAND — January 14, 2026 — Wayland Housing Partnership will press for denser use of 212 Cochituate Road parcel. The committee voted unanimously Wednesday to send a letter to Tom Fay, chair of the 212 Cochituate Road Advisory Committee, arguing that two five-bedroom group homes — the model preferred by the state Department of Developmental Services — is likely not the best use of the four-acre site slated for affordable housing for adults with disabilities. Jean Milburn, the Partnership's liaison, will draft the letter by Friday; Chair Mary Antes will submit it by Jan. 27 ahead of the committee's Feb. 15 report. "Four acres is a rare and extraordinary opportunity," Milburn said, citing 30-to-40-resident models elsewhere. Member Rachel Bratt said the letter should make "five or six pithy points" tied to the town's Housing Production Plan. The Partnership also confirmed a Feb. 4 session with Mass Housing Partnership's Dana LeWinter on affordable ADU incentives.
