Goodnow Trustees set April 21 start for children's room renovation

SUDBURY — April 7, 2026 — Goodnow Library children's room to close April 21 for monthlong renovation. The Library Director told the Board of Trustees at its April 7 meeting that the room has been emptied and construction is on track to begin Tuesday, April 21 and finish by the end of May. The director also reported that a chronic problem with the library's smart-locker hold service has been fixed after a Massachusetts Library System escalation traced it to a coding error in the Minuteman warehouse software, and that 77 percent of the operating budget has been spent. March drew 105,116 community reading minutes in the Minute Madness Challenge — enough for the Elite Eight before a loss to Wilmington — and an 80-plus-child leprechaun-trap event. Jennifer Jones reported the Goodnow Library Foundation raised just over $1,300 on Library Giving Day from individual gifts, with the foundation's gala returning Oct. 16.
