Wayland's Design Review Advisory Board pushed back on chain link fencing at the Castle Road pump station.
Design Review Advisory Board · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Wayland's Design Review Advisory Board pushed back on chain link fencing at the Castle Road pump station. Public Works Director Tom Holder and Kleinfelder project manager Kirsten Ryan presented revisions made since the September 9 Planning Board hearing, including cutting the fenced footprint roughly in half, reorienting the emergency generator behind the building, and dropping a septic system after concluding the town can win a waiver. Chair William Sterling said the parcel is "basically the entrance to that neighborhood" and should read as residential, and members floated ornamental fencing on the Castle Road and Old Connecticut Path frontages with chain link only on the hidden north side.
The board specified wood-grain siding in a bark-toned gray with dark trim and no white accent. Ryan said the generator measures about 70 decibels at the unit and no more than 60 at the property line. No vote was taken.
