Cultural Council postpones $1,035 in grant allocations to April

WAYLAND — March 11, 2026 — Wayland Cultural Council defers $1,035 in grant decisions to April meeting. Meeting remotely Wednesday with Chair Pallavi Nagesha absent, acting chair Marie Isenburg led five voting members through unanimous votes to postpone allocations for a mural project, a rail trail bench installation and a Muslim Sisters of America community event until updated proposals are available. Isenburg reported that DCR-spec benches for the rail trail cost "$7,500 apiece" and that the Wayland Historical Society "is not in a position to ask for funds at this point" after coordination with DPW reshaped the plan. Members — Kevin Goodwin, Charles Bent, Dona Mitra, Naresh Mysore and associate Iniyan Gandhi — also voted unanimously to confirm the annual grantee reception for Friday, April 17 at the Council on Aging, with catering decisions deferred to an April 8 meeting. Mysore agreed to circulate a two-slide reimbursement-procedures explainer by email.
