Watertown's Community Preservation Committee voted 7-0 to prepare a letter opposing a proposal to move its coordinator under city staff. The motion calls for a "strongly worded letter" to the city manager and City Council saying coordinator Lanae should remain under committee supervision. Members cited independence concerns because many projects come from city departments.
A member said about 25 nearby communities split roughly 50-50 on who supervises the role. A participant identified as Mark said the City Council can only take an up-or-down vote on the administrative code change. In her update, Lanae said the Saltonstall Park pavilion faced another steel-fabrication delay, with completion expected in the spring.
A Walker Pond community meeting is set for Feb. 5, and the Willow Park housing project was accepted by the state for the next funding round.
