FRAMINGHAM — The Framingham Community Preservation Committee found a conservation proposal tied to Eastleigh Farm eligible for Community Preservation Act funding, 8-0-1, while rejecting two other fiscal 2027 applications as ineligible. The committee unanimously re-elected Thomas Mahoney to a sixth term as chair, with Karen Margolis as vice chair and Judith Grove as clerk. Of 18 eligibility forms submitted by the September 1 deadline, down from 25 last year, the committee found a proposed Framingham Heart Study monument and a Callahan Senior Center wellness platform ineligible, the first for seeking new construction under historic preservation, the second for lacking recreation-designated land.
CPC Coordinator Heather reported the Guild Road conservation deal, spanning Framingham, Ashland and Sherborn, closed September 11 after "many years in the works," now held by the Trustees of Reservations. She also said a $27,000 engineering evaluation of the Simpson Park footbridge, raised by a public commenter, remains overdue: "I haven't received a report or anything." The committee noted the Chris Walsh Trail already drew $409,500 from this year's available funds.
