School Committee · Meeting of October 30, 2026

Hopkinton School Committee previewed a $22.4 million geothermal HVAC overhaul for the high school, funded by repurposing unspent Charleswood School debt. Superintendent Bishop said a traditional system replacement would cost about $14 million without adding cooling, while the geothermal option nets to under $13 million after a $7.6 million investment tax credit and a $1.3 million Mass Save grant: "It's inviting the town to invest and then reap the savings," Bishop said. A formal vote is set for Nov. 12.

Resident Matt Kisner told the committee his son was not notified when a classmate cut his shirt with scissors, saying the principal "did admit to us that we should have been notified." The committee also unanimously approved reallocating high school club stipends and travel for a Business Professionals of America student leader to a Washington, D.C. summit.
