WATERTOWN — The Human Rights Commission approved a student-designed logo and an immigration statement. Commissioners voted 7-0 to approve the winning contest entry, from a field of 36 student submissions, and let a subcommittee finalize it with a volunteer graphic designer. They also voted 7-0 for a statement on immigration enforcement, following a Friday detention by federal agents that a commissioner described, adding a link to an Attorney General complaint form.
Members voted 6-0 for up to $200 in table supplies and 7-0 for $50 toward a bus to the Mother's Day Walk for Peace. Susan Mazinski said councilors told her the commission is not visible in town, and a police representative said officers visited the detained man's family with a clinician. A letter to the School Committee and City Council went to the immigrant rights subcommittee.
