Carlisle Placed Under Level 3 Critical Drought Status

CARLISLE — The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has designated the Northeast Region, including Carlisle, in Level 3 Critical Drought status, the town's Board of Health announced, as the Community Preservation Committee separately opened its fiscal 2027 grant application cycle.

The Board of Health's drought advisory places Carlisle among communities in the Northeast Region now classified at the state's third-highest drought tier. The town did not detail specific water-use restrictions in the notice posted to its website.

Separately, the Community Preservation Committee is accepting fiscal 2027 grant applications, with awards to be voted on at the November 16 Special Town Meeting. The application deadline is Friday, August 14, at noon.

The town also flagged that Transfer Station permit enforcement is now in effect. Same-day transactions can be completed with a credit or debit card at the Police Station; all other transactions will be handled by mail. No cash is accepted.

SCHOOLS

Carlisle Public Schools' next School Committee meeting is set for Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m. The district has also posted its summer 2026 campus rules: the main office is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with no public restroom access for playground users during summer school, which runs through August 7. Parking is prohibited in the School Street lot on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the playground is restricted to student use during those same hours.
