Capital panel restructures report, fixes closed-out line items
Wayland's capital committee rebuilt its annual report structure and corrected a dozen closed-out school line items.
Capital Improvement Planning Committee · Meeting of September 30, 2026
Wayland's capital committee rebuilt its annual report structure and corrected a dozen closed-out school line items. Acting Chair Bradford Carver, School Committee representative Brian O'Herlihy and member Elizabeth Lusky worked through the draft report to the town manager, which covers $70.4 million in requests across 152 projects, roughly 97 of them carried over from last year's plan unchanged. O'Herlihy said a municipal accounting report still showed balances on about 12 items town meeting had already voted to close, including a $202,358 network project appearing in the top-10 completed table, and that this year's closeout yield looks like "at best a hundred" thousand dollars against $600,000 to $700,000 in prior years.
The committee left a $500,000 water asset management plan and a $380,000 transfer station roll-off vehicle in fiscal 2028 despite Board of Public Works hesitancy, and renamed a $500,000 Route 20 landfill item. Acting Vice Chair John Kliem was absent.
