Burlington Planning Board Approves Restaurant Permits, School Turf Fields in 5-1 Vote

BURLINGTON — February 5, 2026 — Burlington Planning Board approves two restaurant permits and a 5-1 school field vote at February 5 meeting. The board unanimously granted a special permit to Blue Salt LLC, doing business as Citrus and Salt, a Baja-inspired Mexican restaurant with 240 seats at 19 3rd Avenue in the Northwest Park Planned Development District, the former Osteria Nino's site, with owner Jason Santos targeting a June opening; a second unanimous permit went to Waffle and Bagel LLC for a zero-seat counter-service cafe at 75 Middlesex Turnpike inside Burlington Mall. The board voted 5-1 to approve a minor engineering change for synthetic turf, LED lighting, accessible walkways, and granite nature seating at Marshall Simons Middle School's lower field at 114 Winn Street, conditioning the decision on family notification before any movement of an on-site memorial. A proposed 11,000-square-foot, 153-child daycare at zero Cambridge Street was continued to March 5 after abutters described basement flooding, petroleum-sheen sump water, and traffic dangers on a corridor that attorney Christine Hung's client acknowledged requires significant fill of up to 25 feet and a large retaining wall before any construction can begin.
