Boxborough Housing Board schedules August public forum on housing production plan

Housing Board · Meeting of May 26, 2026

Boxborough Housing Board unanimously votes to hold a public Housing Production Forum on August 25. Chair Al Murphy convened the May 26 meeting, where the board voted 5-0 to use its regular standing meeting slot for a forum on the town's Housing Production Plan — a document that could target residents earning up to $197,520, or 120 percent of Area Median Income. Community Services Coordinator Wendy Trinks reported that demand for the Boxborough Rental Assistance Program has "exploded," with 16 active participants and six families now on a waiting list, while Brook Village residents face pipe replacement assessments of $14,000 to $17,000 per unit — costs Trinks said have triggered at least two foreclosures among longtime owners.

Member Phyn Vermin presented a draft outreach letter to residents in affordable units to be paired with a survey; member Brittany Zorn agreed to collaborate with Assistant Town Administrator Ian Gilson to finalize both for review at the June 23 meeting. The board also moved to schedule upcoming special meetings on Stow Road housing development, with the first focused on work done by a town committee roughly 12 years ago, and Chair Murphy committed to connecting visiting Habitat for Humanity volunteer Jim Howie with member F. Channing Wagg to explore a possible collaboration on the parcel.
