SOMERVILLE — The Somerville Planning Board approved site plan and special permit conditions for a housing project at 6 Wheatland Street while continuing a disputed 24-hour hours request for the Dunkin' Donuts at 222 Broadway to October 15. Vice Chair Amelia Aboff chaired as the board voted 5-0 on both Wheatland Street motions, with Attorney Adam Dash representing applicant NPO Properties. Residents of Melvin Street, including Dale Rushton, said they do not "feel safe walking past the area" under current hours, while Ward 1 City Councilor Matt McLaughlin said a community meeting he held drew mostly opposition.
Member Lynn Richards questioned whether the Dunkin' operator, represented by Nicole Sullivan and Gio of Page Network, would have cleaned up the property "had you not been trying to go 24 hours." The board also adopted minutes from its August 20 and September 3 meetings, both by 5-0 roll call.
