Belmont Center Zoning Proposals Could Reshape Leonard Street, Concord Avenue

New zoning proposals could reshape Belmont Center's Leonard Street and Concord Avenue corridor, Belmont Patch reported today, as the town closed its athletic fields for maintenance and opened back-to-school vaccine clinics ahead of the fall term.

TOWN HALL

Belmont's athletic fields will be closed from Friday, Aug. 21, through Monday, Aug. 24, according to a town alert posted on the Belmont town website, though officials did not specify a reason beyond routine turf work. The closure covers all town-managed fields during the four-day window.

The Belmont Health Department has opened required back-to-school vaccine appointments for Belmont students and residents 18 and under, the town's News Flash announced. Separately, the Health Department published a new guide on identifying rat activity and eliminating the food and shelter sources that attract rodents, part of an ongoing rodent-control push.

SCHOOLS

Belmont Public Schools has opened registration for the 2026-2027 school year, the district said on its website, covering all grade levels ahead of the fall opening.
