Bedford Opens Forum on Future of Former Fire Station Site

Town officials this week opened public discussion on the future of the former fire station property while several boards prepared for a busy week of summer meetings.

The Town of Bedford is inviting residents to a virtual public forum on the future use of 55 The Great Road, the town's former fire station site, in partnership with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council. The session will give residents a chance to weigh in on potential reuse options for the property, according to a notice posted on the town's website.

Town Manager's Report for July 6, 2026, is now available for residents who want a rundown of recent municipal activity, per the town homepage. Separately, the town announced that nominations are now open for the 2026 Bedford Citizen of the Year award, inviting residents to put forward names of community members deserving recognition.

Several boards and committees have meetings on the calendar this week, including the Tricentennial Committee, the Commission on Disability, the Planning Board, and the Trails Committee, according to the town's online calendar.

The Bedford Free Public Library's 2026 HEB Reads! Summer Reading Challenge remains open for adults, teens, and kids through July 31, with prize pick-up already underway since June 1. Residents can register through the library's website or the Beanstack app to log reading minutes and earn prizes.

The library also has posted its summer newsletters for adults, kids, and tweens/teens, along with a kids' June/July events calendar, pointing residents to the full events calendar on its website for specific program dates.
