Bedford Closes Fawn Lake for Four Days Starting Tuesday
BEDFORD — Fawn Lake will close to public access for four days starting Tuesday, and town officials opened a companion conversation this week about what comes next for the shuttered fire station at 55 The Great Road.
TOWN HALL
The town posted a CivicAlert Monday announcing that Fawn Lake will be temporarily closed to public access from Tuesday, July 14, through Friday, July 17. No reason for the closure was given in the alert.
Separately, the Select Board and Town Manager's Office are inviting residents to a Bedford Summer Biergarten on the Town Common, described as an afternoon of music, beer and food, though no date was specified in the announcement. The Town Manager's Office is also promoting a joint effort with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council to gather public input on the future use of 55 The Great Road, the town's former fire station; a virtual public forum on the topic is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22.
Residents who use the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail should also expect a detour at the Billerica town line. Billerica has begun a two-year project to build its Yankee Doodle Bike Path starting at the Bedford line, closing that stretch of the trail for the duration of construction.
COMING UP
The Taxation Aid Committee meets Monday, July 20, according to the town's events calendar.
