Ayer Library Trustee Candidate Duran Runs Uncontested, Pushes for Tech Upgrades

Ayer library trustee candidate Maggie Duran outlined technology upgrades as her top priority in a virtual pandemic-era candidate meet-and-greet hosted by Janet Pravodakis and broadcast on Channel 8 and airpublicaccess.org. Duran, running uncontested, is a 2013 Ayer High School graduate with a bachelor's degree in history and political science from Suffolk University and a graduate background in history and archives from UMass Boston; she has worked in the local school district since 2019. She said she had met with library director Tim Silva and that the two agreed "the technology in the library could use some updating," citing resident reliance on library Wi-Fi for homework and research.

She also serves as assistant scoutmaster and merit badge counselor for Ayer Boy Scouts Troop 2. Polls for the election open at 7 a.m. on May 11, with absentee ballot paperwork due to the town clerk by 5 p.m. on May 5.
