ASHLAND — The Ashland Free Public Library opens a full slate of family and adult summer programs this week, from a Friday movie screening to weekend robotics and reading challenges, as three town boards prepare to meet the following Monday and Tuesday.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Ashland Free Public Library's summer calendar picks up Friday, July 17, with a trio of programs: an adults-only Mindful Meditation session, a family "Flicknic" screening of the animated film "GOAT," and a virtual lecture examining how directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas changed Hollywood filmmaking.

The lineup continues Saturday, July 18, with an Elephant & Piggie-themed ice cream party for families and a VEX IQ Robotics session for children in grades two through six. The library's online Adult Summer Reading Challenge 2026 runs in parallel, with new installments posting through July 20.

Three town boards meet in the coming week. The Finance Committee convenes by Zoom on Monday, July 20, the same day the Conservation Commission holds a hybrid meeting. The Library Board of Trustees follows with a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, July 21.
