Wayland Assessors approve $136,643 excise commitment, release Glezen Lane Chapter 61A lien

WAYLAND — July 20, 2026 — Wayland Assessors approve $136,643 excise commitment and Glezen Lane lien release. Meeting remotely on July 20 with three of five members present, the Board of Assessors unanimously authorized the FY2027 fourth motor vehicle and trailer excise commitment covering 357 bills against $9,170,876.62 in valuation, with bills issuing July 23. Chair Zachariah L. Ventress, Steven Klitgord and Clovis Schaff also voted to release a Chapter 61A classified land tax lien on parcel 18-025 at 17 Glezen Lane from prior owners Shelley and Margaret Phyllis Files, whose successors are not enrolling in the state program. A planned board reorganization naming Ventress as Chair, Klitgord as Vice Chair and Douglass McNeilly as Secretary was tabled because McNeilly and member Yiji Starr were absent. The board then entered executive session to discuss pending Appellate Tax Board cases and did not return to open meeting.
