Townsend Sets July 13 Aggregation Sweep Deadline for Electric Program

Residents have a pair of housekeeping notices from Town Hall this week: an upcoming electricity aggregation sweep in July and a reminder that Town Hall is operating on a shortened summer schedule through the end of August.

TOWN HALL

The town announced that an aggregation sweep is scheduled for July 13, 2026, as part of Townsend's community electric aggregation program. Residents who wish to opt out before that date should take action ahead of the sweep — details are available through the town's website at townsendma.gov.

Also in effect through the end of August: Town Hall is closed on Fridays. The four-day schedule began earlier this month and runs through the summer season. Residents are encouraged to plan in-person visits for Monday through Thursday.

Registration for the 2026–2027 curbside trash and recycling program remains open, with a renewal deadline of July 10. Residents who do not renew by that date risk losing their curbside pickup. Registration information is available on the town website.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Townsend Public Library will be closed Friday, July 4, Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 7 in observance of Independence Day. Regular hours resume Monday, July 8. Residents planning library visits around the holiday weekend should note the extended closure. The library's summer reading program is also currently underway; details and event registration are available at townsendlibrary.org.
