Tewksbury ZBA Approves Home Bakery Pickup Permit With Four-Car-Per-Hour Cap

TEWKSBURY — May 28, 2026 — Tewksbury Zoning Board approves home bread bakery pickup permit on busy Patten Road with strict traffic limits. The board voted 3-0 Thursday to grant Valerie Ashe of 57 Patten Road a five-year home occupation special permit under Section 7.2 B1 and B4 of the Tewksbury Zoning Bylaw, allowing prearranged customer pickups at her residence under conditions set during the hearing. The permit limits pickups to Sunday through Thursday, noon to 6:30 p.m., with a maximum of four vehicles per hour and parking restricted to the applicant's driveway. Abutter Colleen Gallant of 49 Patten Road testified against the application, citing driveway overflow risk, a nearby fire hydrant, and the volume of traffic on Patten Road, while a second neighbor, Jeanne Quintiliani of 30 Grasshopper Lane, questioned whether time-slot compliance could realistically be enforced. Chair Nancy Rego told the audience that any violation could be reported to the Building Commissioner, who holds authority to revoke the permit outright.
